Photos from Africa - The Solo Aussie crosses the Strait of Gibralter to leave Europe behind and tackle a new continent: Africa. First stop - Morocco.
The Morocco trip was from 27th July 2003 to 5th August 2003.

Chefchaoeun - Rif Mtns
This is the mountain town of Chefchaoeun. It was so beautiful and peaceful here. We also had the graetest meal in the whole of Morocco here. This is also the HQ of the hashish growing community in the Rif mountains.
One of the million identical rug shops in Morocco
Here is Matt and I being suckered into looking at a selection of carpets in one of the million carpet shops in Morocco. This one is in Fez. We quickly caught on that they give you a free cup of tea when you enter, so we occasionally went in to get a free cup then procced to tell them we are allergic to carpets and have to leave! However, seriously, these carpets (or rugs) were extremely beautiful and i nearly got pressured into buying worth!
Tannery - Fez
This is one of the largest tanneries in Morocco. Here they dye the leather which they use for everything - bags, shoes, wallets, hats, etc. They employ people to stand in these wells filled with dyes and wash the pieces of leather to colour them.
Silver shop
This is a typical silver shop in Morocco where they try to get you in and you can by absolutely anything from rings, to bongs, to mirrors, to boxes, to laterns. The handicrafts were excellent and i would certainly want some for my house - pending that i secure a house of my own - and a wife to clean it.
Night markets - Marrakesh
This is the world famous city square in Marrakesh. Here are the most interesting colleciton of markets and freak shows ever. I saw snake charmers, dancing monkeys, henna tatooes. At night it becomes a creative food market where you sit down and they cook it all right there.
Sahara Desert
This is the Sahara desert, complete with a camel trip to see the sun rise over the desert. It was so beautiful, but damn hot too. PS Camels are funny animals.
Kasbah - Atlas Mountains
This is a Kasbah that you find all over the oasis in the Sahara dessert. They llok awesome and are mad from mud. A lot of these are used in hollywood movies.
